Just in case you’ve been stuck under a rock for the last six years, here’s a little history on the series.
Halo is a science fiction-based shooting game created by Bungie Studios back in 2001. It debuted on the original Xbox and was soon dubbed “The best selling game on Xbox.” Halo centers on Master Chief, a half human/half cyborg super soldier with technologically advanced battle armor. He’s charged with protecting the human race from a race of parasitic aliens called The Flood.
Now players are approaching the third installment of the series which will bring Master Chief, The Flood and the entire human race to a battle that will surely bring the trilogy to a climatic close.
Halo 3 promises to renew interest in the franchise for long time fan-boys as well as players that are new to the game. Bungie promises to raise the bar graphically and technically with this one by using the Xbox 360 to its full potential.
If any of you went out and bought Crackdown in February (which I personally thought sucked) you were lucky enough to play the multi-player beta. According to various blogs posted across the internet, the online play has been completely revamped from the previous versions. Most of the maps have their own strategic purpose, so there is a level of skill involved in every fight. In this one you can use trip mines, bubble shields, swords, vehicles, teleportation and more. The only major loss is the much loved pistol, but that seems to be minor in comparison to all that is gained.
Halo stands to be the greatest game on the 360 so far — and has already spawned off limited edition Microsoft Zunes, action figures and lots of accessories for your Xbox.
According to a Gamestop representative, there have already been more than 1,200 copies of the game reserved and there are only 90 left. So, get your copy reserved today — before you miss the boat.
