The Maine Lobster Festival comes to Rockland next week
2008-07-22
Fans of Maine’s signature crustacean will flock to Rockland July 30-Aug. 3 for the 61st Maine Lobster Festival. The seafood feasting begins at high noon on Wednesday and goes until 6 pm on Sunday (with a break each morning for some much needed blueberry pancake consumption). The annual festival includes a carnival, tours of a Navy ship, live music, a parade, the Sea Goddess coronation and kids events.
Food lovers won’t want to miss Barb Tomlinson’s talks about the evolution of lobster at 1 and 2 pm on Thursday and Friday, the Maine Seafood Cooking Contest beginning at 9 am on Friday (with awards announced at 12:30 pm) and the Real Maine Man Cooking Contest at 10:30 am on Friday.
Even though the organizers like to refer to this event by its acronym MLF, we can’t confirm whether or not there will be any hot mamas there. But we can tell you there will be plenty of steaming hot lobster. FMI www.mainelobsterfestival.com.
