With gas hovering around $4 a gallon and diesel even higher, businesses that need to manage a fleet of vehicles are really feeling the pinch. In the hopes of relieving some of this pain, Maine Clean Communities is hosting “Green Your Fleet,” Thursday, June 5 from noon-4 pm. The event takes place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport.

The conference aims to give fleet managers, facility directors and sustainabilty coordinators information about how to reduce fuel costs and carbon emissions by using alternative fuel vehicles. The clean cars and trucks to be featured at the event come with engines powered by electricity, propane and natural gas. In addition, the event will explain how businesses can qualify for government incentives for greener vehicles.

You won’t just hear about alternative fuel vehicles at this event, but you’ll have the opportunity to test drive a number of them.

Speakers include Jennifer Puser, deputy director of research and legislation with the Governor’s Office of Energy Independence & Security, Steve Linnell, coordinator of Maine Clean Communities and Stephen Pesci, special projects director of campus planning at University of New Hampshire.

The event is free and will include lunch. FMI call 233-9970, email MaineEV@gmail.com" or www.gpcog.org.
