The white tablecloth restaurant Evangeline has opened its doors in Portland’s West End. Located in the former Uffa spot in Longfellow Square, the French eatery is owned by Erik Desjarlais, who used to run Bandol and Ladle, both on Exchange St. Desjarlais, who is known for adventurous dishes made with offal, declined to comment on his menu or concept. But we can tell you the restaurant serves up such treats as frog legs, foie gras, pressed duck and an impressive wine list. For reservations call 791-2800.
