This holiday season why not give a gift to Mother Earth with a green design mindset? Here are some easy ways to create a beautiful, practical and life-enhancing home, which also treads softly on the earth.
• Atmosphere is Huge — For your lighting needs use energy efficient CFL bulbs. Other ideas to create a green mood include installing dimmers and lighting soy based candles for extra lighting needs.
• Fragrant Air — Fire up your fireplace. When you want to freshen up your air, toss in some pinecones instead of using chemical-laden, synthetic room sprays.
• Save Energy — Dress up bare windows and jazz up your space with insulated window treatments. An abundance of ready-made panels are out there waiting to make your home more cozy.
• Turn Down Thermostats, Turn Up Bedding — Invest in a down or down alternative comforter for added warmth this winter. Complement this with a lovely organic cotton duvet and shams.
Every little effort made to green your home gives back to Mother Earth — there is no greater gift than that.
