It has been confirmed through trusted sources that the black Xbox360 is indeed coming and will be called the Xbox360 Elite. Are you as excited as I am yet? I thought so.
The Elite will be priced at $479.99, which is about 80 bucks higher than the standard Premium package, and will be sold alongside the other existing Xbox products. Here are some things you need to know:
• The case, controller and Xbox live headset will all be black.
• Included in the package will be a 120GB HDD/HDMI
• The Elite models will supposedly run cooler than the normal Xbox360’s
Eventually, the Elite model will replace the existing Xbox Premiums (with a white plastic casing) with the 120 HDD/HDMI hardware upgrade and will probably keep the $480 price tag. Unfortunately, the new Xbox360 Elite won’t have the HD DVD player bundled with it as people previously thought. That really isn’t that big of a let down though because the HD DVD drive is really geared toward HD movie viewing and most of the public doesn’t have a TV that could support that anyway. There was also a rumor flying around that the new Xbox was going to have integrated Wi-Fi built in but Microsoft decided not to pony up for the extra $10 part.
Sorry kids.
The Xbox360 Elite is due on shelves sometime in April at an electronics store near you.
